The action "Ozekti orteitin shyndyk" dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of Political Repression and Famine was held at the old Muslim cemetery, at the burial site of Nahuan Hazret

Every year, May 31 is celebrated in Kazakhstan as the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression and Famine. The commemorative date is dedicated to one of the most difficult pages of the historical chronicle of the 1920s and 1950s of the 20th century - mass political repression and horrific famine.More than 105,000 Kazakhstanis passed through the millstones of repression. Of these, more than 25,000 were shot. Writers, poets, cultural and art workers, educators, and other citizens were persecuted. The bloody system provided for the complete destruction of the entire intelligentsia. 5,400 repressive cases were registered in the Akmola region, 1,600 of which were sentenced to death.

The son of poet, writer, and statesman Saken Seifullin, Ayan, is buried in the old Muslim cemetery. During the years of repression, Saken Seifullin was arrested in 1937, on false denunciation. After his arrest, his wife Gulbahram was exiled to ALGERIA. On the way in a packed carriage, S.Seifullin's son Ayan, who was only 1 year and 9 months old, died of illness. On August 18, 1938, Ayan was buried at the Muslim cemetery in Kokshetau.

The event was attended by cadets of the Military Technical School of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a public figure, chairman of the City Council of Veterans Sh.Sh.Aliev, as well as representatives of the Duma of the Akmola region
