KSU "Center for the Protection and Use of Historical and Cultural Heritage" of the Department of Culture of the Akmola region annually conducts archaeological security and rescue operations in the territory of the Akmola region. In June-July 2024, archaeological excavations are being carried out in the Sandyktau district within the framework of the Kazynaly Kazba - ult Kundylygy project at the newly discovered Sandyktau burial ground of the III Bronze Age (18th - 15th centuries BC).

The monuments of the Bronze Age are characterized by round stone fences and do not stand out well among the thickets of grass. Since the monument is located near the left bank of the Zhabai River, it is washed away by the annual flood of the riverbed. One of the features of this burial ground is that it consists of more than 150 large and small mounds. This means that the GPS coordinates of each mound were obtained, a topographic plan was drawn up and taken under state protection. During the excavations, fragments of ornamented ceramics typical of the Bronze Age were found. We hope that this will become a fruitful monument for historical sciences.

Students, undergraduates and PhD doctoral students of the Historical Faculty of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University participate in the excavations. Security and rescue operations are carried out under the general supervision of the Director of the Center for the Protection and Use of Historical and Cultural Heritage, Master of History J.K. Ukeeva.
